The important difference is insulation, not just capacity
Compare these around the meal you carry. Someone taking a larger lunch to work has different needs from someone packing three small portions for school. A smaller box can be convenient, but it should not be chosen on the assumption that all Vaya lunch boxes keep food warm.

Vaya Tyffyn — 1,000ml, three-container option
This is the larger candidate for a main meal with accompaniments. Check the capacity of each container as well as the total: more space overall does not guarantee the largest compartment fits your rice or rotis.
Vaya’s range page describes insulated steel containers and treats BagMat as a separate accessory. Confirm what the Amazon bundle includes before comparing its price.
For dal or curry: Vaya advises against thin soups and very runny liquids in Tyffyn. If that describes your normal lunch, resolve liquid-carrying suitability before choosing it. A broad leak-resistance claim is not enough.
Vaya Tydbyt — 650ml, three-container option
Vaya’s FAQ gives the layout as one 370ml container and two 140ml containers, with an outer size of approximately 157 × 170 × 62mm. It explicitly says TydByt does not provide insulation.
That layout is worth checking for one main portion and two small sides. For a child, compare it with a lunch they already finish; “for kids” does not establish the right capacity for every appetite.
Practical check: Can the child open, close and pack the parts independently? Measure the lunch-bag opening as well as its internal space. A box can fit inside and still be awkward to get through a narrow opening.
Match the shape to the food
For rotis, internal width matters more than total millilitres. For rice and a side, the largest container needs to fit the main portion without forcing you to use all three sections for one dish. If you pack fruit separately, decide whether the smaller containers are useful or simply add lids to wash.
Use your existing lunch box as a reference. Note where it runs out of room and where it returns half empty. That gives you a better comparison than choosing the larger number automatically.
Cleaning differs between parts
Vaya’s FAQ allows dishwashing the Tydbyt steel inserts, while its plastic parts need hand washing. For Tyffyn, the outer shell and base must not be soaked or dishwashed. Follow the supplied instructions for your exact version.
This matters if you expect to put the entire lunch box into a dishwasher after work. Consider the daily cleaning routine along with the purchase price, and leave parts dry before reassembling them for storage.
Which should you shortlist?
Investigate the Tyffyn if you need a larger meal setup and insulation. Investigate the Tydbyt if its smaller container layout suits your portions and you do not need insulation. Check the bundle contents, bag fit, closure instructions and return conditions on the exact Amazon listing before buying.
